At Our Lady of Dolours, we closely monitor each child’s learning to ensure they are supported, challenged and continuing to grow. Teachers regularly gather information about student learning through classroom activities, observations, work samples and planned assessments. This information is reviewed through regular cycles of monitoring, reflection and data analysis, allowing teachers and leaders to understand where students are in their learning and to identify clear next steps. Data from classroom assessments and BCE recommended monitoring tools is used to inform teaching decisions, plan learning experiences and respond effectively to student needs.
Teachers respond to student learning by adjusting, differentiating and extending learning tasks so all students can access success while being appropriately challenged. This includes providing varied learning experiences within the classroom, targeted support for students who need additional assistance, and enrichment opportunities for students who are ready to extend their thinking and skills. Where required, teachers make reasonable adjustments and develop personalised learning plans to ensure every child can participate fully in learning. Teachers work collaboratively to review progress, reflect on the impact of teaching strategies and plan responsive and enriching learning experiences that support every student to thrive.
