At Our Lady of Dolours, assessment and reporting are designed to support every child’s learning journey and to keep families well informed. Teachers use a range of age-appropriate assessment practices throughout the year to understand each child’s progress, provide timely feedback and plan next steps in learning. These practices are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and Religious Education curriculum and meet all Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) requirements.
We value strong partnerships with families and provide regular opportunities to share information about student learning:
Parent–Teacher Interviews
These are held twice each year, at the end of Term 1 and Term 3, giving parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress, strengths and learning goals directly with the class teacher.
Written reports
These are provided at the end of each semester, in Terms 2 and 4. These reports clearly describe your child’s achievement in each learning area using a five-point scale aligned to curriculum standards, as required by BCE and Queensland legislation.
To ensure fairness and consistency, teachers work together to review student work and make shared judgements about achievement. Assessment information is used thoughtfully to support learning, guide teaching and communicate clearly with families. This approach ensures parents receive a balanced and accurate picture of their child’s progress and growth over time.
