Our Lady of Dolours Catholic
Primary School (2023)
On Tuesday, 11 July we welcomed Majeda Beatty to
Our Lady of Dolours School.
Majeda shared her stories, songs, and cultures with our students. She believes in the importance of cultural pride and carrying on past traditions as well as moving forward in a modern world. Majeda had the staff and students engaged and entertained for her entire performance.
On Thursday we came together in prayer for NAIDOC week to celebrate and recognise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia.
NAIDOC Week is a time when we celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities but by Australians from all walks of life.
This year’s theme for NAIDOC Week is
For Our Elders
. Our Elders have played and continue to play and important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and our families. We draw strength from their knowledge, and they guide us and pave the way forward for us today.
