On 14 October, 2022 we hosted a 'Silly Sock Day'. The purpose of this day is to promote awareness of Down syndrome. The idea was created because chromosomes are shaped “like socks” and people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome.
We always teach our students to accept all our differences, and the things that make us unique as individuals. Socks come in all shapes, sizes, and designs, just like each of us.
Students could wear their craziest socks to school and were invited to bring a gold coin donation if possible. The money collected was donated to Down Syndrome Queensland to help them in providing a range of supports and services for people with Down Syndrome.
