Potato Olympics in Year 6
To celebrate the Olympics at OLD Year 6 students competed in their very own Potato Olympics. Each student chose their own country to compete under, giving our students a chance to research specific countries flags, languages, cuisines and cultures, aligning with our Geography unit this term. The students then created own potato competitor that they decorated and designed ready to compete in four different events. Our events included Diving, Distance, Dance and Gymnastics. Each of these, gave students the chance to put their understanding of measurement ,from our Mathematics unit, into practice. After all athletes competed in the events, they calculated scores to see who the medallists were. At the closing ceremony the potato winners were congratulated with gold, silver and bronze medals.
