Estimation is a vital mathematical skill that helps children develop number sense, make quick decisions, and build confidence in their problem-solving abilities. It’s not about getting the exact answer—it’s about making a reasonable guess based on what we know. In everyday life, we estimate all the time: how long a trip will take. how much groceries will cost, or how many chairs are needed for a party. To practise estimating we are running a - 

Library Estimation Competition

Estimate the number of returned books on the library circulation desk.​

Meet the first winner, Ashley
The correct number of books was 314 and Ashlee estimated 308 books.

Meet the second winner, Ruby
The correct number of books was 286 and Ruby estimated 314 books. Ruby used the total from the last competition to help her with her estimate for this fortnight and it worked!
