The Great O.L.D. Book Swap!

As part of Laudato Si’, Year Three’s sustainability project is to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Earlier in Term Two, the students in Year Three brainstormed ways we could show this in the school community. We came up with many great ideas – most of which are unable to be achieved due to the current restrictions in our community. We did, however, come up with a great idea that we can do now and that will benefit everyone in many ways.

With the help of two of our dads we created our very own O.L.D. Book Swap! What a great way for us to tick all three boxes of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

All the materials that were sourced and used to create our Book Swaps are from recycled materials and the books that we used to start off our Book Swap, and then the ones that will be used when children swap books for ‘new’ ones, will be reused books from family donations within the community. All of this allows us to reduce the waste of what otherwise might have been thrown away.

The Book Swaps are located outside the school office at the moment and are able to be used by students at any time during the day. The idea is that they would put a book in before they can take a book out. We are excited about this project! PLEASE if you have any children’s books at home that you would be happy to donate to the Book Swap, bring them in! We will be grateful for all donations.
